Helios Logistics has unveiled plans for a €130m (£111m) speculative warehouse development after exchanging contracts with Vienna Airport Company to acquire a 22ha site adjacent to the international airport.
Helios submitted proposals to the local municipality for a development of 68,000 sq m (circa 730,000 sq ft) of logistics space with a gross development value of €130m. An 8MW solar farm will also be built alongside to provide power to the development.
Trevor Cartner, chief executive of Helios, said: ‘We see Vienna as a major growth market where demand for prime logistics space currently exceeds supply and we aim to capitalise on that by building out the entire site speculatively starting in June 2022. The site is less than 30 minutes from the city centre and around 60 minutes from Bratislava’.
Senior debt has been arranged with Erste Bank and CBRE has been appointed letting agent for the development.
